What does your jewelry say about you? As it turns out, our jewelry choices not only reflect our style but can say a lot about who we are & what we value.
I discovered the “Brave Collection” over two years ago and fell in love with their story. It may look like your average charm bracelet, but this braid wrap is a lot more than a beautiful handcrafted accessory, it carries a deeper message & is part of a global movement against injustice.
When New York-based designer Jessica Hendricks spent time in South East Asia teaching English, she was shocked to learn how many Cambodian women today are working in terrible conditions in factories or worse, falling victim to human trafficking. The Brave Collection was born out of Jessica’s desire to make a difference and contribute to this incredible country whose culture was demolished by a horrible genocide.
So she created The “Brave Collection”, a line of beautifully handcrafted bracelet with the Cambodian word for “Brave” _ “Klahan” (Klaa-han). Each piece of The Brave Collection’s jewelry is carved and woven entirely by hand by talented artisans who come from underprivileged backgrounds.
I love how this simple jewelry line uses fashion as a force for change by empowering women with job opportunities and donating 10% of profits to the fight of human trafficking. Each piece serves as a token of freedom and a symbol of universal bravery; a message that we want to wear & share.
I own about three and have given so many away as presents. It is so inspiring to know that these little choices are having a ripple effect to improve lives.
So I am so excited to be the first to represent them in Australia & these now available online
Check out more of their brand and story on their site & see them on Instagram
