SOKO – Timeless Jewellery with Global Impact

Sustainable Style,

What makes a particular piece of jewelry so special? That is carries something of meaning we deeply care about and we wear it as a symbol of who we are. And that’s why we’re so passionate about our partnership with SOKO.

The jewelry brand SOKO is raising the bar when it comes to responsible design, rethinking the supply chain and increasing incomes 5x for marginalised artisans in the developing world.  Whilst it’s industry standard for artisans to retain only 2-3% revenue from their goods, SOKO helps artisans keep 25-30% – A life changing improvement for these artisans.

Soko was created by women for women to help “fashion a better world” through the equitable direct trade of beautiful goods between artisans in the developing world and web consumers worldwide. Working in the bottom of the pyramid communities around the world, the founders realized that by leveraging technology and existing infrastructure in an innovative way, they could create a platform to enable any talented artisan to participate in international trade. Recognizing a global need, as well as global opportunity, to disrupt these systemic patterns of poverty found across the developing world’s creative economy, Soko was founded in 2012.

So why has what they created such a game changer?  Fact:  “The artisan craft industry is the second largest employer in the developing world. It is also one of the most disenfranchised. SOKO provides a way for artisans to improve their livelihoods by disrupting the supply chain and connecting artisans from Nairobi, Kenya to market demand around the world. On average, within two months of joining Soko, artisans increase their income by a factor of 5x, often the difference between poverty and abundance.”

The impact of SOKO has been globally recognised as one of the leading agents for global change & the founders were  listed  in Forbes Magazine “30 under 30” for 2015 & 2016.

What’s more? These beautiful designs are all handcrafted using up-cycle materials, so minimising the impact on the environment too.

SOKO has made it easy for us to do our part in creating a better world with their & we’re so thrilled to be in partnership with them to bring you their amazing collection.
